It is no secret that I’m a big fan and avid watcher of Monty Don’s television show: Gardener’s World. Monty is the main presenter of BBC-TV’s Gardener’s World. He is one of the United Kingdom’s (and the world’s) most respected TV personalities and gardening writers. In this book, Monty offers an inspirational mix of passion and practical advice. He covers how to garden in an organic and sustainable way and shows you how to produce show-stopping flowers, fruit, and vegetables.
Who is Monty Don?
Monty Don, author of The Complete Gardener, is a British television presenter, writer, and gardener. He was born on July 8, 1955, in West Berlin, Germany, and grew up in Hampshire, England. He is best known for presenting gardening programs on BBC television, including “Gardeners’ World,” “Big Dreams, Small Spaces,” and “Monty Don’s American Gardens.”
Monty Don’s interest in gardening began in his childhood, and he went on to study horticulture at college. After a brief career in the music industry, he became a gardening journalist and author, publishing numerous books on gardening and related topics.
Don first appeared on BBC television in the 1990s, presenting gardening programs such as “This Morning” and “Real Gardens.” He later became the main presenter of “Gardeners’ World” in 2003, a role he held until 2008 and then again from 2011 to the present day. He has also presented other gardening programs and documentaries, including “Around the World in 80 Gardens” and “Monty Don’s Italian Gardens.”
Monty Don has won numerous awards for his work as a gardening writer and presenter, including the Royal Horticultural Society‘s highest accolade, the Victoria Medal of Honour. He is known for his relaxed and informative presenting style, as well as his passion for organic gardening and wildlife conservation. Monty Don has been a leader in the television gardening world for over twenty-five years. A prolific journalist and author, he was gardening correspondent for the Observer from 1994 to 2006 and has written a weekly gardening column for the Daily Mail since 2004. He has published eighteen books, including his recent Sunday Times bestseller Nigel: My Family and Other Dogs. [link]
